Family History

Davoyan Family

The bond between our family and the jewelry and diamond industries date back to 1890, when Garabed Davoyan, my Great Grandfather, founded a modest goldsmith factory in the city of Aintab.

Aintab was a flourishing Armenian city under Ottoman rule, and is currently part of Turkey. Garabed managed his prosperous business with his exceptional talent and skill until the outbreak of World War I, and the execution of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. As a result of the massacres perpetrated by the Turks, the family was lucky enough to escape to Aleppo, leaving behind immensely beautiful memories and a sad nostalgia of the ancestral lands.

There… in the old historical Souks of Aleppo, my grandfather David established a small boutique that was empowered with a vision; a vision of a bright future with great dreams and noble ambitions…

From the ashes of sorrow and the remnants of the past, it was the rebirth of a stunning journey; a journey marked with difficulties and complexities, but assertively topped with grand achievements….

Established in Lebanon in 1970, the family business continued with Vahe and Garbis, the third generation of the family. The Switzerland of the Middle East, as Lebanon is labelled, is a truly fascinating country; and Beirut, its capital city, is a truly authentic inspiration for whoever lives in it.

From Aleppo to Beirut, and from generation to generation, our family dream continues…

In 2015, the third and fourth generations of the Davoyans we will be proudly celebrating 45 years of establishment in Beirut, and 125 years of family legacy in the jewelry and diamond worlds. A truly remarkable journey and an impressive heritage...
